Firing (sintering) Ceramics

The use of microwave energy for ceramic sintering offers exciting new possibilities for material processing. Compared to using conventional heat sources including industrial microwave (2.45GHz), using the Gyrotron Beam results in:

  • Accelerated densification rate

  • Higher microstructure uniformity throughout the part

  • Elimination of auxiliary heaters

  • Controlled grain growth

  • Elimination of using sintering aids

  • Option of creating core temperatures higher than surface
